This year, the little guy requested a Minecraft birthday party. I got a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and ended up making most things from scratch in lieu of purchasing generic party supplies:
This is my party decorating helper, exercising the highest of self-control, by not batting at the streamers or balloon strings:
For the invitations, I found this photo on the web and saved it. Then, I dropped it into MS Word and used it as a background.
After downloading a couple of Minecraft fonts here and here, I used them to type out the party information. Totally professional looking, right? ;)
All it took was a gray, plastic tablecloth and black construction paper to produce this Minecraft Skeleton front door display.
My sisters helped me create the Minecraft windows, using white electrical tape.
The framed meme (birthday boy's name blurred out) was made, using the same method as the invitations. I saved an image from the web, dropped it into MS Word and then typed out what I wanted it to say.
I found several character faces and printed them out on Avery 22816 stickers. The kids l-o-v-e-d them, can you tell?
Don't forget the Ghast piñata! (Tutorial: here)
The Minecraft party food was pretty fun to put together. I made Zombie Boogers, using this candy corn recipe.
Twizzlers (strawberry and chocolate) were bunched together to create TNT. These disappeared almost as fast as the Dirt.
I made the Torches AKA chocolate dipped pretzel rods, using white chocolate and orange food coloring. Careful! They're hot ;)
Unfortunately, I didn't get a good picture of the Dirt (brownies) before they disappeared. The Minecraft Coal was made from black Rice Krispies treats, rolled into balls.
I made a cake (half white; half chocolate), and topped it with green buttercream icing. The Creeper face was formed, using black marshmallow fondant.
I made table runners, using a strip of artificial grass that I purchased from a home improvement store.
By the way, have you purchased a present for the birthday girl/boy? Check out these amazing gift ideas!
